Aliens: Fireteam Elite 2 is expected to feature multiple classes, each with unique abilities, perks, and playstyles. Here's what to expect based on the first game:
1. Gunner
Role: High-Damage DPS
The Gunner specializes in sustained damage output and crowd control through overwhelming firepower.
Strengths
- Highest sustained DPS: Melts elites and bosses quickly.
- Overclock ability: Temporary damage boost and fire rate increase.
- Ammo efficiency perks: Extends uptime before needing resupply.
Weaknesses
- No team support abilities (pure selfish DPS).
- Vulnerable when reloading during heavy swarms.
Recommended Loadout
- Primary: Light Machine Gun or Assault Rifle (high mag capacity)
- Secondary: SMG or Pistol (fast swap for emergencies)
- Perks: Increased reload speed, critical hit chance, damage buffs
Playstyle
Stay at mid-range and lay down suppressive fire. Focus on high-value targets (ranged enemies, elites). Use your ultimate during boss phases or when swarmed.
2. Demolisher
Role: AOE Damage & Explosives
The Demolisher excels at clearing groups with explosives and heavy weapons.
Strengths
- AOE damage: Grenades, rockets, and mines devastate clusters.
- Chokepoint control: Mines block enemy advance routes.
- Heavy weapon proficiency: Bonus damage with launchers and explosives.
Weaknesses
- Limited ammo for explosive weapons (must conserve for big waves).
- Self-damage risk in close quarters.
Recommended Loadout
- Primary: Shotgun or Grenade Launcher
- Secondary: Heavy Pistol
- Perks: Increased blast radius, explosive damage, grenade cooldown reduction
Playstyle
Position yourself to maximize AOE impact. Drop mines at choke points before waves. Save rockets for elite clusters or boss weak points.
3. Technician
Role: Tank & Crowd Control
The Technician deploys defensive turrets and provides area control.
Strengths
- Deployable turret: Provides covering fire and draws aggro.
- High durability: Increased health and damage resistance.
- Crowd control: Slows or stuns enemies near turret.
Weaknesses
- Lower personal DPS compared to Gunner or Demolisher.
- Turret can be destroyed; requires careful placement.
Recommended Loadout
- Primary: Pulse Rifle or Shotgun
- Secondary: SMG
- Perks: Turret health, cooldown reduction, personal damage resistance
Playstyle
Drop turret at defensive positions to create kill zones. Hold front line and protect squishier teammates. Reposition turret between waves for optimal coverage.
4. Doc
Role: Healer & Support
The Doc keeps the squad alive with healing abilities and damage buffs.
Strengths
- Healing station: AOE heal over time for nearby allies.
- Revive speed: Gets downed teammates up faster.
- Team buffs: Increases squad damage or resistance.
Weaknesses
- Lowest personal damage output.
- Must balance healing duties with staying alive.
Recommended Loadout
- Primary: Assault Rifle (reliable, mid-range)
- Secondary: Pistol or SMG
- Perks: Healing efficiency, buff duration, self-heal on revive
Playstyle
Stay near teammates to maximize healing station uptime. Prioritize revives when safe. Use buffs before difficult waves or boss phases.
5. Recon
Role: Precision DPS & Intel
The Recon specializes in long-range damage and revealing enemy positions.
Strengths
- Weak point damage: Headshots and critical hits deal massive damage.
- Enemy highlighting: Marks threats for the team.
- Stealth/invisibility: Temporary cloak to escape or reposition.
Weaknesses
- Requires precision; ineffective if you miss shots.
- Vulnerable in close combat.
Recommended Loadout
- Primary: Sniper Rifle or DMR
- Secondary: Shotgun or Pistol (panic weapon)
- Perks: Critical hit damage, weak point multiplier, cloak duration
Playstyle
Hang back and eliminate high-priority targets from range. Mark dangerous enemies for squad focus fire. Use cloak to escape when swarmed or to safely revive.
6. Potential New Classes
Fireteam Elite 2 may introduce new classes. Speculative options based on co-op shooter trends:
- Breacher: CQC specialist with melee bonuses and shield.
- Engineer: Builds barricades and automated defenses.
- Pyro: Flamethrower and fire-based DOT (damage over time).
General Build Tips
Perk Selection
- Synergy over individual power: Choose perks that complement your class's strengths.
- Adapt to difficulty: Higher difficulties may require more defensive perks.
- Team composition: If no one is running support, consider hybrid builds.
Weapon Choice
- Ammo availability: Some mission types have limited resupply. Pick efficient weapons.
- Enemy types: Bosses favor sustained DPS; swarms favor AOE and burst.
- Personal preference: Play what feels good. Mechanical skill > meta.
